A Way to Afford Salmon

I don’t shop at Morrisons much as I do not have one near me but my favourite reduction is the whole half priced salmon which they do at Christmas and Easter each year.  It is  £6.99 kg this year which is an increase of £1 a kg from last year but it is still good value. We buy them every year as they mean that I can afford to eat good quality fish a lot cheaper. I also love the fact that it isn’t going out of date and so this gives me more flexibility when I take it out of the freezer, though some years I have got these reduced on yellow sticker even further.
The whole salmon are part filleted, but you have to still pull out some bones. (I don’t pluck my eyebrows and so use the tweezers I bought but never used after my daughter gave me a hard time about not doing the girlie grooming stuff). I got 16 fillets and enough salmon for 2 fish pies for under £16 last year. There is also the head and the fatty side bits of salmon that I am sure that, if you were creative, you could make things with like salmon spread, or at least feed your cat. I didn’t fancy stinking my kitchen out last year but I got 2 whole salmon today and might try making a pate or something . I will have to take some baking out of the freezer to fit all the salmon in and so I am going to have to have a lot of will power this week 😇.
I am using my Christmas food budget to buy these as I already have all the meal covered for over the festive period.  I can not afford to buy salmon at full price, or even reduced now, and so this is a way making sure that I can still eat my favourite food whilst sticking to a frugal budget.
