Fir cone truffles

I have seen these fir cone truffles  being made on the internet for a number of years now. This Christmas it was times to give them a try for our family meal. The truffle recipe is the same as I make for my little round, chocolate covered truffles. Most people use cereal, which does look better, but we don’t  buy it. There is a Nesquick cereal chocolate curls cereal that makes them look more professional than mine. I rarely buy an ingredient specially, and so used what I had. There were some almond flakes or slithers in my baking box and so I used those instead.

Ingredients

2 packets of Oreo biscuits (or Aldi copy cats)

15g of of cream cheese

Almond flakes (slithers)

Method.

1. Whiz up the biscuits in the food processor until finely ground.

2. Mix in the cream cheese.

3. Mould the mixture into small closed pine cone shapes.

4. Cover the sides with sliced almonds (or cereal) so that they look a bit like little fir cones.

These can be covered in melted chocolate when made. I just sieved a bit of icing sugar and cocoa powder over them.

With this mixture, I made 6 pine cones and 6 truffles. The round  truffles were frozen and I will coat them in chocolate later. I might make some mini pine cones to decorate a chocolate cake some time.

In the background you can see my gingerbread biscuits. I decorated them in the same way that I made the chocolate lollies
