Crispy cheese, onion, and bacon wrap.

We felt like something ‘dirty’ and unhealthy to eat the other day for lunch.  We have been trying so hard to stick to a healthy diet but some times I just need something ‘forbidden’ to stop me going and binging on snacks.  Mr S loves those breakfast wraps that have bacon and cheese in from a certain restaurant starting with Mc.  We therefore decided to make something similar and so we made this cheese, onion, and bacon wrap.

We had been going through the freezer and found some bits of gammon from one of those packs of bacon mis shapes that you can buy at the supermarket.  We also had a large Turkish bread wrap in there and so decided to use that.  I try not to eat much bacon now but those mis shaped packs of bacon are really useful for making frugal meals when times are tight.  They add lots of taste and stretch to make lots of individual meals with other cheap ingredients.  Here is a link to a blog that I previously wrote about things that you could make with a pack of bacon mis shapes.

We therefore fried the gammon and decided to add a small sliced onion to add taste.  I grated some extra mature cheddar cheese as less is needed to add a nice taste.  As the wrap was large we cut it in half but usually we would make an ordinary wrap each.  We often make our own wraps.

The half wrap was filled with cheese, bacon and fried onion and then we crisped the wrap up in the air fryer until the cheese was melted.  Some times the simplest things can seem like a treat. It hit that spot and stopped my craving for crisps.

We like to crisp us filled wraps in the air fryer and add all sorts, including left overs such as bolognaise.  It is a good way to use up stale wraps.  What would your favourite filling be?

Sounds a great idea . I used to buy packs of cooking bacon to make soup .lentil & bacon pea & ham
Quiche ,Bacon casserole , & if any left a carbonara. They used to be just over £1 in our local supermarket & the slices were nice & thick you sometimes had to watch out for thick lumps of rind or fat . X

Yes. I think that they are still good value and add lots of taste to meals. Thanks for your comments
