After a busy day in the garden I was craving a magnum. We had finished all of the ice cream off last week. It is a no spend day today and I am saving my monthly allowance for a trip away. Mr S and I are having a competition to see who can lose the most weight as well. Neither of us are doing that well as life has been stressful recently due to family illness. Mr S is 1Ib a head of me 🙄.
I therefore decided to make a healthy magnum style lolly using what I had in. I need to look like I am trying. Ok, I know chocolate is not healthy but it is a compromise!
Ingredients
Plain yoghurt
Strawberries (mine were from the garden).
Chocolate 200g
Method.
1. Chop the strawberries up small. Use what ever quantity you have available, but enough to fill the moulds that you have. This amount filled 4. Place in a bowl.

2. Mix in the yoghurt to cover the strawberries.

3. Fill the moulds and freeze.
4. Melt the chocolate in a mug in the microwave. I check and stir it every 20 seconds. I used 160g as I melted an Easter egg that I got discounted to 50p.
5. Take the lolly out of the freezer and the mould, and dunk it into the chocolate. I didn’t have enough chocolate to do that and so ladled it on with a spoon. It sets straight away.
6. I placed mine on a silicone mat for 3 minutes.
7. Place in a zip lock bag and freeze once the chocolate has set.
8. Enjoy your cool snack when you want.
I intend to make some raspberry and ice cream ones in July when the raspberries are ready and I can afford some cream to make ice cream. Happy days. It is the simple things, or the anticipation of them that bring joy.
We had to taste test them before I wrote the post. Quality control and all that! They were lovely. I can see myself making these with lots of different home grown and foraged berries. Less nasty ingredients than a bought magnum. They could be eaten without chocolate, I will try them with a high percentage of cocoa dark chocolate next time, but sometimes it is ok to compromise and be grateful, and use what you already have.
What kind of lollies do you like to make? I have strawberries to eat up and so I think strawberry sorbet ones will be next 😁. They are great to have as a treat after a hard day gardening.
Ooh lovely!
I have two more in the freezer that keep winking at me every time I open the lid 😊
Deeeelicious 😋😋
Thanks x
Thank you for the inspiration. I used to make something similar when my children were young. This has inspired me to restart that habit.
Yes it is funny how we get out of good habits when our children grow up. Brilliant.
They look amazing, and if I use savers dark chocolate, not too expensive. I’m off to check out moulds from Amazon 😁
Mine cost £9.99 for 8. A load of lolly sticks are included
Oh no!
They look delicious and your chocolate is definitely on thicker than a magnum.
I’ve got to do these I’ve got some yogurt and plenty of strawberries that’s on my list for tomorrow. Can’t wait. None chocolate one for me though.
You are being so good. Yes I couldn’t get the chocolate any thinner as it set right away. I bet you could if you had enough chocolate in a mug to dunk them.
They look delicious. I’ll have to try this.
They were 😁. They were a bit icier than ice cream due to the fruit
Thank you Toni going to make these ! Xx
Great. Thanks for sharing
They look so good. Need to order some ice lolly moulds. Dairy free ice cream and lollies are so expensive, this looks like a better alternative.
I am just trying to k8d myself that they are healthier. The silicone moulds are really easy to use and I like them because they fit easier in to my freezer and the lollies are not hard to get out
I love the look of these, Mr J loves iced yogurt but it’s soo expensive, so I’ll be trying your delicious recipe, I’m hoping the work in the old fashioned ice lolly moulds!
I am not sure as I have always found lollies difficult to get out of those
I made these today with raspberries from the garden and homemade elderflower yoghurt (I didn’t have any natural yoghurt at home) and dark chocolate. They were de-li-cious! Thanks for the recipe. Will be definitely be making these again!
Brilliant. That combination sounds lovely.
