Repurpose meals from 3 classic favourites.

We always have left overs.  I like to repurpose left overs to make other meals. I don’t like to eat the same thing two days running. Sometimes I will make  on extra on purpose.  It is cheaper to cook extra for another meal, and saves on time as well.  Left overs last 3 or 4 days in the fridge, but can also be frozen for use another day.  Here are some things that we do to repurpose 3 classic meals that are on our meal plan most months.

Spaghetti bolognaise

Turn into a cottage pie by putting mashed potato on top

Put it on a pizza base with cheese on top

Use it to make a lasagne

Put it inside pastry to make a pie or pasty

Make savoury pancakes

Make cannelloni

Turn into a soup by adding mini pasta and a can of tomatoes or some tomato puree and water

Fill a baked potato

Eat it on toast

Turn it into a breakfast by heating it in a frying pan and adding eggs.

Fill a wrap and fry it in the air fryer

Cook slices of French stick made into garlic bread on top

Make a sloppy Joe

Chilli

Make into nachos by putting it in between layers of nacho type crisp and grated cheese

Make potato nachos in the same way but with thinly fried potatoes.

Put in a pasty or pie.  It is nice with cheese in it too.

Put on pizza and add cheese on top

Make a spicy lasagne with tortillas

Make a toastie

Make a spicy lasagne with pasta

Put a cheesy potato topping on it and serve like a cottage pie

Turn into a soup and add mini pasta or rice.

Make savoury pancakes

Make it into a cobbler with cheese scones on top.

Eat it on toast

Make tacos

Make quesadillas

Make a toastie

Fill ravioli

Fill a jacket potato

Curry

Make pasties (I usually add a bit of mashed potato when making a pasty so that it doesn’t drip every where when you are eating it)Frugal pasties 1

Put it on a pizza with a mild cheese on top

Make a galette

Have it on toast

Fill a jacket potato

Make a pie by adding cooked boiled potatoes to it to fill it out.

Fill a wrap and air fry

Make a curry Frittata with some fresh vegetables in it

Make a Quesadilla

Make a toastie

Make a soup

Add it to a pancake batter for a kind of Indian Yorkshire pudding

Make curried fried rice

Curry and rice stuffed peppers.

Add some curry sauce to hummus to make a curry hummus

Make curry flat breads with the sauce

What do you make with your left overs of these 3 classic meals?

I use left over bolognaise in soup, in a pancake, on Jacket potato and inside a spaghetti squash. I don’t like chilli so don’t make it. Curry we sometimes have on a jacket potato or I have put it into soup, or added to a casserole.

Once again Toni you come to my rescue with your wonderful ideas. I am disabled & we are getting a motabiliy car in a couple of weeks. So need to budget for diesel . Reading this has helped me set a budget whereby for the first time in 5 years we will be able to go on holiday by car camping & have days out. Thank you for your valuable knowledge. You are a bright shining star lighting the way for some of us lost in the commercial fog of ever increasing food costs by unscrupulous supermarkets who put prices up & up not caring how some people struggle at this present time. Thank you 🙏
